Sasha Li

Sasha is a Ph.D. student in the Learning Sciences program in the Department of Educational Counselling and Psychology. Her research interests center around the role of emotion regulation in self-regulated learning and developing effective interventions and technological tools that can facilitate emotional regulation among high school learners, ultimately enhancing their academic performance and overall well-being. Her ultimate aim is to empower students to navigate their educational journeys with emotional resilience and self-regulated learning skills. Previously, she was a high school teacher with a strong focus on Psychology and Statistics.

Mengqian (MQ) Wu

MQ is a doctoral student in the Learning Sciences program in the Department of ECP. Her research interests include self-regulated learning and epistemic cognition using educational data mining methods (e.g., network analysis, text mining) and machine learning methods. Her interests extend to exploring how to design and develop technologies to enhance learning performance and engagement, as well as promoting collaborative knowledge building to drive interdisciplinary transformations.

Wei-Ting Hung

Wei-Ting is a master student in the Learning Sciences program in the Department of ECP. She earned her medical degree from Chung Shan Medical University, Taiwan, in 2005, followed by a Ph.D. in Clinical Medicine from the Institute of Clinical Medicine at National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University, Taiwan, in 2021. Her professional journey includes comprehensive residency training in internal medicine at Taichung Veterans General Hospital, complemented by subspecialty training in allergy, immunology, and rheumatology.

Since joining the lupus clinics at Taichung Veterans General Hospital in 2012, Wei-Ting has contributed significantly to patient care in her role as an attending physician. Her interest in medical education led to a position in the Division of Faculty Development in 2015, where she has been involved in the design and refinement of the faculty development programs.

Recognized for her dedication to teaching with the “Best Teaching Attending Physician of the Year” award in 2016 and 2020, Dr. Wei-Ting Hung continues to focus on educational research projects, particularly in the areas of interprofessional education and faculty development. Her commitment to improving medical education has also motivated her to pursue further studies in health professions education.

Jessica Lin

Jessica is completing her final year as a B.A. student at McGill majoring in Psychology, minoring in Sociology and Educational Psychology. Her research interest focuses on understanding how online teaching impacts the learning experience and emotional regulation of both students and teachers, and she is committed to exploring innovative solutions that enhance the quality and inclusivity of online learning environments. In the future, she hopes to pursue graduate studies in Educational or School Psychology and is eager to learn more at the CREATE lab.

Alexandra Sheppard

Yongan (Michael) Yu

Michael is an undergraduate in Computer Science at McGill University, specializing in Generative AI. His research primarily revolves around Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) and Large Language Models. Michael has applied Generative AI across various domains and is keen on exploring its innovative applications in educational technology. Currently, he is engaged in a project at the CREATE Lab - "QG-math problem posing through Generative AI," where he is developing new methodologies to enhance math education through advanced AI techniques.

Yimei Zhang

Yimei is M.A. student in Education and Society at the Department of Integrated Studies in Education. Her research interest resides at the crossroads of two dynamic fields: the application of computational thinking in education and the transformative potential of machine learning in assessment methodologies. Her long-term aspiration is to bridge the gap between research and practice, envisioning an educational landscape where computational thinking principles harmonize with machine learning techniques to elevate the teaching and learning experience.

Hongwei Xie

Hongwei is an M.Ed. student in the Department of Educational & Counselling Psychology in the Faculty of Education. His research interests revolve around learning strategies, cooperative learning, and the dynamics inherent in these processes. These interests stem from his prior experience working with adolescents who faced challenges in adapting to competitive learning environments while at a psychological clinic. His ambition is to delve deeper into the realm of collaborative learning strategies for students, with the ultimate goal of equipping them with the skills and mindset needed to become lifelong, self-regulated, and co-regulated learners. Concurrently, he aims to create tailored training programs for instructors in collaborative learning environments.
